JOB SEARCH

A: Good morning! Agenda Agency. May i help you/
B: Hi, Im calling about your job search workshops.
A: sure, they run weekdays from three to nine.
B: What i would like to know is how the address they address the question of transferable skills?
A: Oh absolutely. We do that on day 5 of the program.
B: We help prospective employees explore there original field as well as related employment.
A: Really! Now, i have trouble with resume writing and telephone skills in general. Are they covered in the        training?
A: We can teach you anything for a reasonable fee.
B: What? I thought it is all free?
A: Phew, okay.Sign me up for Monday morning, okay?

B: Hello, I am interested in your job access programs.
A: We have an Express Employment course every day.
B: I am hoping that you would have lots of mock interviews.
A: You are in luck. We do that every Thursday.
B: I am also looking for job placement opportunities in the community, something that gives me a foot in the      door.
A: Sure. We do that as well.
B: And what about computer skills? I think i need to know how to make a LinkedIn ant Twitter profile.
A: That be an additional $450 before tax.
B: You can not be serious. I can not pay that much.
A: I am just kidding. You got any other questions?
B: Nope, I just need and Advil.


A: Macroskills Jobber. How can i help you?
B: Good morning. I am curious to know more about your upcoming job acquisition courses.
A: Our classes run in the evenings.
B: Great! Do you do anything classified ads, Craiglist, Kijiji and the like?
A: Sure, that is in the curriculum.
B: I think what i really need is an opportunity for job shadowing. Do you have that/
A: Definitely! We specialize in that. That is how our grads get advance access into their careers of choice.
B: Of course, you would have the usual as well- phone interviews, cover letters, resumes, the whole shebang
A: That would cost $500 more.
B: Whoa! No way!
A: Ha, gotcha! Anything else?
B: Do you serve caviar and champagne over lunch?

Welcome back! Spring's here, although there wasn't much of a winter, and we're getting more sunlight and heat this week, as well as more moisture!


To open our week on the theme of job search, here are your tasks:
Vocabulary--learn and practice using some new phrases: Landing an Interview

  • After a lot of back and forth trying to decide on a major.
  • I finally decided to double major.
  • But after a lot of soul searching.
  • I could cast a wide net when going job hunting.
  • I should shoot a little lower.
  • Some of those are non profit.

    • I can find any job in many cities in Canada.

    • No one because all of them are outside from the area i live.

Listening: A Day at School What words or phrases were hard to understand at first? take bows What surprising pronunciation rules did you discover? we study kokota we do des and d we do dumb too Vocabulary: Naming Kids What new words did you learn? teased appease mouthful odd to steer clear What new ways can you use those new words in? for example: Some students in my class teased me for my last name it was very long and complicated. When my husband is angry for anything i have to appease him with a big hug and a delicious food! We have to steer clear when the doors of train are opening. Parents should keep and open mind with their kids. Role Play: Types of Students What new meaning and pronunciation items did you learn? Yearbook Jock Cheerleaders She was not stuck up. She was friends with geeks and goths. You? definitely a druggie. What do your partners say when you check your reading with them? How did your Audioboom.com record
